The "But Dad Said" print is one of nearly 100 vignettes drawn from the boyhood experiences of the artist, David Gildersleeve. This book is based on "actual" events. Click image to enlarge.
This illustration is a cautionary tale from the experiences of the young David Gildersleeve. How many of us in our youth have not picked up on something said by “Dad” that turned out to be less than acceptable to “Mom”. It goes to show that Dad is not always the best role model in Mom’s eyes.
We learn from those experiences to be judicious in what expressions we repeat that might be OK(?) when said by Dad — but Mom reminds us that, as a boy growing up, we are not “Dad”.
What boy worldn’t get a chuckle from this look at life around his home and the reminder that Mom really knows all and should be listened to.
Could I really have been that Dad?
This print (11" x 17") is foam-core backed and suitable for framing and is perfect for hanging in a boy's room. What boy wouldn't get a chuckle from this look at life around his home. We can't help but think: "I could be that boy!"
A walk down memory lane!
